Mini mommy

Does anyone else have a little mini mommy? Her love of dolls began around nine months. It started with her just carrying them around, but it has evolved into so much more. This morning we did our usual routine of potty, letting the dogs out, and eating breakfast while watching Mickey. But as soon as she was done, she went straight into the play room to grab her new favorite doll, Bailey. She picked her out of her cradle, went into her kitchen cabinet, grabbed her pretend oatmeal and started to feed her. She then grabbed the changing pad, pulled her pants down, demanded the wipes and started “changing her diaper”. I was floored that she knew to grab both feet with one hand while lifting her to wipe her hiney!

It made me realize that she is paying very close attention to everything that I do. When I clean the floors, she wants the Swiffer as soon as I’m done (and sometimes while I’m still doing it). She got a broom and mop set for Christmas, and while she does pick that up sometimes, she wants what I have. She wants to be a mommy because I am a mommy! She is mimicking me, and that makes me have all the feels. It makes me feel loved, needed, but scared at the same time. I am her biggest role model at this stage in her life, everything I do means something to her. Knowing that pushes me to be a better person and do things out of my comfort zone. Of course we all want to be the best mother we can be, but we all have bad days. I want to teach her that no one is perfect all the time, but at the same time I want to live up to the amazing, perfect person she envisions me to be. So while her and I are on this journey of growing up together, we are both making each other better versions of ourselves. I’m teaching her to be a kind, loving, generous person and she’s teaching me that it’s okay to be me. Because she loves me for the person I am… and that’s enough for me.

Sam, you have become a great Mom and a beautiful person. Brea loves you. I see all the love and care you have giving this little girl. She makes me laugh when she calls you Mommy Sam she is very loved and blessed to have you.
